“Health promotion is the process of enabling people to increase control over, and to improve, their health. It moves beyond a focus on individual behaviour towards a wide range of social and environmental interventions.” – World Health Organization, 2015
The MFHT’s Health Promotion program focuses on preventing disease, reducing illness and enhancing the quality of life in the community.
One project that the MFHT has been working on is asset mapping. It is about discovering what helps our community stay healthy. We asked community members to go out into the community and take pictures of things they felt promoted their health. This could include encouraging physical activity, healthy nutrition, and positive mental health. Check out the video below to see the photos that were submitted.
Is there something in our community missing from the photos that promotes your health? Take a photo and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org. If your photo has any people in it, please be sure to send us their names and contact information so we can get their permission to use the photo.
