With the end of summer, many of us are looking to improve our eating habits and often some support can be helpful. The Healthy You program, offered by the Marathon Family Health Team, is a free weekly lifestyle group that can improve health. Read more to learn about the program and how it could help you with your wellness goals.
The Healthy You program is meant to help you make permanent lifestyle changes. To do this, you learn about how nutrition, self-esteem, activity, behaviors and your environment affect your health. Some specific topics include setting S.M.A.R.T. goals and tackling emotional eating, dining out and other roadblocks. Hearing other people’s experiences and doing practical activities can help you apply the information to your own life. During each session, you set your own goals and work towards them at your own pace.
Possible benefits in participating in this program include knowing more about healthy eating and physical activity. You also learn about ways to feel good about yourself and as a result your body image can also improve. Making lifestyle changes taught in this course can also lead to improved blood sugars, blood pressure and cholesterol.
