Welcome to Marathon!

A Great Place to Work

We are a progressive and innovative practice with eight (8) associate physicians in an inter-professional clinic (social worker, dietician, RPNs, RNS, NP, physician assistant and epidemiologist) that serves a local population of 3,900, as well as Pic River and Pic Mobert First Nations (total approximately 5,000).

Our spacious clinic is located next to the local hospital with doctors sharing a large open-style office offering lots of opportunity for corridor consults. Clinic appointments are booked in 20 minute intervals (Clinic Locum shifts are 9:00-12:00pm & 2:00-5:00pm). ER call is manageable with approximately 15-20 patients per 24hr ER shift with the majority being seen between 8am-8pm (no expectation to stay at hospital throughout shift).

A local doc is always on for ER back up as second on call. Our hospital offers a nine-bed acute care, plus a 12-bed chronic care wing with regional referral centre 300 km away. Visiting surgeons do consults and GI endoscopy; visiting ophthalmologist does consults and cataract surgery; and a shared mental health model works with a psychiatrist. One comfortable, tastefully furnished locum house can accommodate a family or two friends who provide a locum together. Our EMR is “OSCAR” EMR, with updated cumulative patient profiles and medication profiles. To learn more about our award winning team…meet them at www.mfht.org
