Nutrition and Healthy Living
As part of the Community Outreach Program a number of workshops are offered periodically throughout the year by the Marathon Family Health Team Registered Dietitian. These workshops include:
Craving Change: This three-week program helps participants identify unwanted eating behaviours that they would like to change. Participants use self-awareness tools and behaviour change strategies to help them change problematic eating behaviours.
Infant Feeding Workshop: Topics covered when and how to introduce solids to your baby; how do you know your baby is ready for solid foods? What are finger foods and when should I give these to my baby? The presentation will include short video clips on how to feed your baby and reading her/his cues.
Cooking Classes: Cooking classes focus on different topics of interest such as heart health, diabetes friendly meals, cooking for one, budget conscious meals and vegetarian cooking.
For more information about any of the above workshops, contact the Marathon Family Health Team clinic and ask to speak to the Registered Dietitian.
