Local COVID-19 vaccination update

June 24, 2021 – The Marathon Family Health Team (MFHT) is pleased to announce that another 504 COVID-19 vaccines were administered in Marathon on June 24th, 2021, including 492 doses of the Moderna vaccine for adults 18 years and older and 12 doses of the Pfizer vaccine for youth 12 to 17 years of age.

Currently, a total of 4645 doses have been administered in our catchment population, including 2838 first doses and 1807 second doses. This means that 75% of our eligible catchment population has received one dose of the vaccine and that 47% has received both doses.

The MFHT looks forward to hosting two other COVID-19 vaccination events in July. We anticipate receiving up to 500 vaccines on July 8th and July 22nd, which will allow us to continue offering first and second doses of the vaccine to those who are eligible.

Eligibility criteria for upcoming COVID-19 immunization clinics

All individuals 12 years and older are eligible to receive a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and can contact the MFHT to request an appointment.

Now that Ontario has a stable and reliable supply of COVID-19 vaccines, eligibility for second doses of the vaccine has been further expanded. As of June 28th, all eligible Ontarians will be able to access an appointment for an accelerated second dose as long as it has been at least 28 days since their first dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or 8 weeks after their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

The MFHT will prioritize individuals who have received the first dose of the vaccine before June 4th for the vaccination events that will be offered throughout the month of July. To request an appointment, please contact the clinic by calling 807-229-3243 or click here to request an appointment online.
