On July 8th, the Marathon Family Health Team (MFHT) administered a total of 552 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, which is a new personal best! The MFHT would like to thank the North of Superior Healthcare Group, the Biigtigong Nishnaabeg Health Centre, Ontario Mine Rescue, the Town of Marathon and our fantastic volunteers for their support during this vaccination event.
Currently, a total of 5197 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in our catchment population, including 2854 first doses and 2333 second doses. This means that 75% of our eligible catchment population has received one dose of the vaccine and that 61% has received both doses.
Upcoming COVID-19 immunization clinic dates
The MFHT anticipates receiving up to 500 vaccines on July 22nd. This will likely be the last mass immunization clinic that will be offered by the MFHT. A smaller scale clinic will be offered on August 5th to allow all eligible individuals with the opportunity to receive their second dose. More information will be provided within the next few weeks regarding access to the COVID-19 vaccine in our communities beyond August 5th.
Both upcoming clinics will be booked on a first come, first served basis. The MFHT will continue to do their best to call those who are eligible for their second doses, but those who want to guarantee to receive an appointment on July 22nd or August 5th should contact the clinic.
Eligibility criteria
All individuals 12 years and older are eligible to receive a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and can contact the MFHT to request an appointment. The MFHT would like to remind you that it’s never too late to receive your first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. If you wish to receive your first dose, please contact us.
All eligible Ontarians (12+ years of age) can now access an appointment for an accelerated second dose as long as it has been at least 21 days since their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine, 28 days since their first dose of the Moderna vaccine or 8 weeks since their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
To book an appointment, please contact the clinic by calling 807-229-3243 or by requesting an appointment online via the MFHT’s website: https://mfht.org/book-your-covid-19-vaccine/.
