Keeping up with healthy behaviors can be challenging in times of stress, and though Covid-19 restrictions loosened this summer, most of us still need to adapt in some way to the Covid-19 pandemic. If you’re concerned your self-care and food choices are affected, consider kick-starting new habits by joining the Emotional Eating & Cravings Management online group. This group program can help with a number of different struggles by developing skills and encouraging practicing them between sessions.
Who is this program for?
If you know what to eat, but can’t seem to stick with it, this program might be for you. The sessions dive into psychological tips to help with powerful food cravings and emotional eating. Changing your mindset around food can help those who have gone on and off multiple diets, or who feel stuck overeating foods they try to avoid. This program also develops skills needed for people who have undergone bariatric surgery or are concerned about their weight.
What are the benefits to joining?
The Emotional Eating & Cravings Management program is meant to help you make permanent lifestyle changes for improved stress, blood sugars, blood pressure and cholesterol. To do this, you learn to tap into your core motivation, to become in tune with your true needs and to get into the habit of practicing self-care. Psychology plays an important role in behavior change, so with the help of a counsellor alongside a dietitian, you will learn about Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies specific to food. Mindfulness can also improve wellbeing, and there will be experiences such as visualization and mindful eating to help you tap into this skill. Hearing other people’s experiences and doing practical activities can help you apply the information to your own life. During each session, you set your own goals, problem solve barriers and work through them at your own pace.
How do we meet?
This free 6 week program occurs every Wednesday at 4pm starting September 30th. With physical distancing still in effect to reduce the risk of Covid-19 transmission, this group is being offered online through Google’s video conferencing platform meet.google.com. For those without a computer or internet, there is a call-in option available (long distance charges may apply).
