MD CCFP FCFP

Started in 1996.

What you like about practice: I love the team of people I work with, the clinical variety, the opportunities to both offer leadership and follow the terrific leadership of others here, and the fact that we have structured our practice with a margin of capacity that allows us to engage in things that matter to us as clinicians, citizens and family members.

What you do outside of general primary care practice: I have had varied opportunities over the past many years most of which has been administrative. I was OCFP president in 2015-16 and spent 8 years on the OCFP board learning and growing in my understanding of primary care across the province. From 2017-2020 I was VP Clinical of the NW LHIN and currently have a role with NOSM U as Associate Dean of Physician Workforce Strategy.

I have some small research interests, enjoy clinical teaching and have been actively involved in local environmental initiatives including as chair person of the Groundwater protection steering committee and Peninsula Harbour remediation committee.

Clinical interests within medicine: Primary care, women’s health, palliative care and health promotion.

Anything else: Despite the current environment in health care, I truly believe that joy in our work is possible and that joy comes from meaningful relationships with our patients, our colleagues and a sense of purpose and mastery in our work. We have focussed on having time for relationships with patients and with each other and that has given us opportunity for joy.
